Finland number one in Sustainable Development

The UN’s Sustainable Development Report for 2021 was published in June and it presents the Sustainable Development Goal (SGD) Index and Dashboards for all UN member states. It also outlines the short-term impacts of COVID on the SDGs and describes how the SDGs can frame the recovery. Finland was number one on the list among 193 countries.

Since the report first published in 2015, Finland has been ranked among the top 5 countries. This year Finland was right on the top.

According to the comparison, Finland has achieved or is close to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which cover poverty, health, education, water, energy, innovation, inequality, and peace and the rule of law.

The biggest challenges, however, are combating climate change, the sustainability of consumption and production patterns, and halting the loss of biodiversity.

Hovi Care is also supporting and working internationally toward the Sustainable Development Goals, namely SDG# 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG #4: Quality Education. We hope to share our expertise wider among our stakeholders. Thus, we have worked hard to develop an extensive training content on our HoviAcademy eLearning platform.  We use these materials to train our care staff to provide quality and effective care to our seniors. Now, we are using the same materials to train anyone living and working with people having memory disorders. The courses give practical and easy-to-use tools for day-to-day situations.

We are now piloting the first training for our clients’ family members in Singapore entitled Early Dementia Care, a topic in which we have over 30 years of experience. Should you be interested in developing your skills in Dementia Management, please contact us.
