What is Indonesia’s Retirement Visa?
Indonesia offers a Retirement Visa (Residence Visa) specifically for foreigners aged 55 and above who want to enjoy long-term residency in the country. This visa allows retirees to stay in Indonesia for an initial one-year period, with the option to extend it annually up to five times. After that, one apply for a permanent stay permit (KITAP) for five years.
One important requirement is that the sponsor must be a licensed travel agency in Indonesia. This means that one can’t just apply independently—you need the assistance of an authorized agency that specializes in visa processing.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify for the Retirement Visa, you must meet the following conditions:
- Be at least 55 years old
- Have a monthly pension of at least USD 1,500 or sufficient savings to cover living expenses in Indonesia
- Own or rent accommodation in an authorized tourist area (renting must be at least USD 500 per month, or purchasing must be at least USD 35,000)
- Have health and life insurance
- Employ at least two Indonesian citizens (e.g., housekeepers or drivers)
- Not engage in any work or business activities in Indonesia
Documents Required for Application
Here is the list of required documents:
✅ Passport color copy (valid for at least 18 months)
✅ Proof of pension or bank statement (showing at least IDR 250 million / USD 25,000)
✅ Health and life insurance documents
✅ Marriage certificate (if applying with my spouse)
✅ Copy of Birth certificate (if applying with my spouse)
✅ Proof of accommodation (rental contract or property purchase receipt)
✅ Employment letter – affidavit (to confirm hiring of two Indonesian citizens)
✅ Resume (CV)
✅ Indonesian ID copies of the house owner and 2 employment copies
✅ Return flight ticket (for visa collection at the embassy)
✅ 10 passport-sized photos (3cm x 4cm, red background)
What’s Included in the Visa Process?
✔ TELEX VITAS (electronic visa approval from Jakarta Immigration)
